At the end of 1916, during a reconnaissance flight above Turkey’s Mount Ararat, Lieutenant Rosovitsky of the Russian Imperial Army allegedly discovered a giant vessel that resembled Noah’s ark. Tsar Nicholas II arrived in Mogilev at the Imperial Headquarters. His command to the army and navy from that day read:
“On this date I assumed leadership of all land and sea armed forces located in the theater of military operations. With a firm faith in God’s grace and with unwavering confidence in ultimate victory we will fulfill our sacred duty to protect the Motherland to the end and not shame the Russian Nation. Romanov family x-rays:
In the winter of 1898 Dr H.H. Horne brought his X-Ray machine to the imperial palace in St Petersburg at the request of Tsar Nicholas II. Having heard about this cutting edge invention, the Tsar of Russia was curious to see and experience it in person.
Mrs Horne, who was also present during the photographic session, often liked to tell the story of how she accidentally bumped into Nicholas II after the X-Ray equipment overloaded the palace’s electrical system immersing them into complete darkness. (more…)

Exactly 111 years ago, on 24 August, 1904, the Romanov Dynasty Heir Alexei Romanov, who was born earlier that summer, was christened in the Russian Orthodox tradition. Below are some of the photographs from this event.
