Maria Romanov to Nicholas II: 7 October, 1915
7 October [1915]. My Papa darling! I am writing out of turn, as Tatiana did not have a chance [to write] because of Petrograd. We, with Anastasia, deigned to visit the warehouse and roll the bandages, then went to our infirmary. A young officer from my regiment was supposed to arrive there, [he was] wounded in the leg in the 25th September attack. He said that lately the regiment has all been on horseback. He is really young, 18 and a half years old. He was presented to me on the 1st of June with two other officers, when he graduated from the Nikolaevsky Cavalier School. We only just consecrated the cemetery church with Mama, and already two officers died at our infirmary and the Grand Palace infirmary. I must end now as they came in to see if we have a letter for you. I love you very much and kiss you and Baby. + Kazanetz. Regards to Kolya.
