ROMANOV FAMILY: GRAND DUCHESS AND TSAREVICH REMAINS IN CUSTODY OF RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH
The Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) finally received custody of the remains of Tsarevich Alexei and Grand Duchess Maria Romanov. The location where they are currently being stored has been determined but will kept confidential. It is only known that the remains of the two Romanov children will not be stored at the Peter & Paul Fortress in St Petersburg.
According to RIA News, who quoted Bishop Tikhon of Yegorievsky Church Commission, it may be a while before the new studies on the remains of the last Russian Tsar’s children are completed. The initial results of these studies will be announced in January of 2016.
In autumn of 2015, ROC asked the Investigative Committee to conduct a new examination of the remains of the Tsarevich Alexei and those of the Grand Duchess Maria, to prove their authenticity.
