ROMANOV FAMILY: ON THIS DATE IN THEIR OWN WORDS
From the 1913 diary of Nicholas II:
7th January. Monday. Got up late, but had the chance to take a walk. After Grigorovich’s report received two governors and Gen. Dobronravov. Minnie came for breakfast. Took a walk with the daughters. At 4 1/4 they had a Yolka [party] for the officers. Olga Alexandrovna came to [my] daughters’ aid, who then had tea with us. From 6 o’cl. until 7 1/2 received the first report from Maklakov. Godspeed to him! Grabbe (on duty) had dinner. Read in the evening.
