ROMANOV FAMILY: ON THIS DATE IN THEIR OWN WORDS. OLGA ROMANOV. 22 AUGUST, 1913

Grand duchesses
Grand Duchess Olga and Grand Duchess Tatiana with their father, Tsar Nicholas II and a Romanov family friend Anna Vyrubova, in a Crimean vineyard.

From the 1913 diary of Olga Romanov:

Thursday. 22 August. Walked in the vineyard. Papa and I swam. The others have either a runny nose or Bekker. Clear warm water. Saw N.P. and S. through the fieldglass. Rodionov, Batushka, Stolitza and S. had breakfast. Awfully happy to see him, [I] missed him so much. In the afternoon Papa went to Krasny Kamen. We four walked with Anya, Rodionov and S. It was very nice. Sat on the well under the balcony with my S. until 3 ½. The others sat on a bench. Then went to see Mama on the balcony. Aleksei was there too. Accompanied them to Anya’s [room], then they read. Had tea and dinner with Papa, Mama, the Aunt. In the evening Papa read. 18 degrees, summer lightning far away at sea. In the afternoon there was a thunderstorm in the mountains. [It was] sunny here.
