Romanov family x-rays:  

In the winter of 1898 Dr H.H. Horne brought his X-Ray machine to the imperial palace in St Petersburg at the request of Tsar Nicholas II. Having heard about this cutting edge invention, the Tsar of Russia was curious to see and experience it in person.

Mrs Horne, who was also present during the photographic session, often liked to tell the story of how she accidentally bumped into Nicholas II after the X-Ray equipment overloaded the palace’s electrical system immersing them into complete darkness. (more…)

Tsar Peter I (The Great) was the most well travelled Tsar in Russia’s history. On his 1698 trip to England, Peter the Great, who loved the taste of stout beer, wished to take some back to Russia but realized it would spoil. His solution? Ask the London brewers to add more hops and alcohol to the stouts, which created a new beer style – the Russian Imperial Stout! The film was released in 1917, BEFORE the execution of the Romanov family. Nance O’Neill starred as Empress Alexandra, Alfred Hickman as Tsar Nicholas II and Edward Connelly as Rasputin.

The Fall of the Romanoffs (1917)  This film was released in New York City on September 6, 1917.
