Letter from Anastasia Romanov:
“…My Good and Kind Papa! We just returned from our infirmary, [saw] a dying soldier and others too. Of course they are such darlings. Saw the officers, where your sharpshooters are. Ortipo was also there, and everyone was terribly happy. So I got up and got dressed and at a quarter of 10 o’cl. we will go to church for Obednya downstairs. I slept wonderfully, did not wake up even once. Now it is 4 degrees below, frosty and overcast. Just now Ortipo was brought to Tatiana, she kisses you and is so busy, such a darling. The eldest sisters are going to Petrograd, and we are staying home… My stomach wants to eat, it is already growling, asking for food. I think Alexei slept well, I was only with him for a minute. Now he is having tea, I can hear him. We went to obednya, had breakfast with Mama and the sisters and Alexei. [We] were remembering you!… Your loving daughter Nastasia. Shvybzik… May the Lord God keep you, my dear Papa.”
