ON THIS DATE IN THEIR OWN WORDS: NICHOLAS II – 27 FEBRUARY, 1913.
27 February. Wednesday. Tatiana’s illness is coming along normally. From 10 o’cl. until 11 1/4 received Maklakov. Went to a pre-sanctified obednya*. Zhitkevich (on duty) had breakfast – he is now the commander of the 70th Ryazhsky regiment. From 2 o’clock until 4 1/2 o’cl. had a nice workout with the daughters at the ice rink – we started building the big tower. After tea, read. Same in the evening.
- *Pre-sanctified Obednya: Nicholas II refers to is a Liturgy Service that happens regularly during Great Lent. Communicants receive Communion of the Gifts which were sanctified the previous Sunday.
