ROMANOV FAMILY: CHURCH EXPLAINS EXHUMATIONS

The Russian Orthodox Church has finally provided an explanation as to the purpose of the exhumations including that of Tsar Alexander III.  I am not completely convinced by this reasoning, but at least they are responding to the questions and criticism. Please read on.

The Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) and Russian state authorities have confirmed that work on the remains of Tsar Nicholas II and Alexander III is being conducted simultaneously. The challenge posed was to carry out entire complex of genetic, anthropological as well as historical studies. But what was the purpose of exhuming Alexander III?

ROMANOV FAMILY: TOMB OF TSAR ALEXANDER III OPENED PREVIOUSLY?

Bishop Tikhon Egoryevsky (Shevkunov) stated that the tomb of Tsar Alexander III, whose remains were exhumed recently, may have been opened earlier.  “We do not claim anything, we are not saying that the tomb of Alexander III was opened, although we do admit that it is more than a possibility. Right now we only admit this: the tombstone over the grave of Alexander III was previously disassembled and reassembled again,” he said.

Tikhon also stated that during the investigation, it was discovered that the corners of the tomb were chipped and the plates of tombstone had shifted. According to the Bishop, this was recorded by the staff of the Investigative Committee.

ROMANOV FAMILY FRIEND: ANNA VYRUBOVA

Anna Alexandrovna Vyrubova, nee Taneyeva, a noblewoman at Russian imperial court,  became a very close friend to Empress Alexandra and the entire Romanov family. It was said that Tsar Nicholas II and Tsarina Alexandra almost considered her their fifth daughter.

“Anya”, as the family members affectionately referred to her, even worked as a Sister of Mercy along the side of the Empress and her daughters, Grand Duchesses Olga and Tatiana, after the First World War began.

In early January of 1915, Anya boarded a train from Tsarskoe Selo to St Petersburg, and was involved in a very serious, near fatal accident. She survived, but was left crippled for the rest of her life. There is a myth that Grigori Rasputin, who was brought to see Anya shortly after the accident, was the one who saved her life.
