From the 1913 diary entry of Olga Romanov:
Monday. 5 August… At 3 1/2 both regiments came over to our garden. Mama was sitting in a carriage with Alexei. The singers sang nice songs as the regiment marched by. Papa and we saw them off to the gate, and the regiment marched past Papa for the last time. The hussars and the officers are so sweet, although I don’t know them, but nevertheless. They presented me with a picture album of the best views of the “Olga headquarters”. I liked the lieutenant-colonel and Sultan Trei most of all… Aunt left at 10, we saw her off to the [train] station. Heard the regimental march and singing from far away – such darlings. They really delighted us. It is very hot today… “
