From the 1913 diary of Olga Romanov (the day this photograph was taken):

“Monday. 21 October. At 9 in the morning went to obednya and received communion. After that had tea all together. I sat on Mama’s balcony and read. The sisters walked with Mama. Papa and Alexei rode in a dvoika . Had breakfast and dinner all together upstairs. Played tennis in the afternoon. I sat with Mama and had an amusing conversation with N.P. [Sablin]. Papa, T[atiana], Anya [Vyrubova] and Rodionov played tennis. 11 degrees in the shade, 23 – in the sun. Had tea as usual. [It is] unbearable not to see S.[Pavel Voronov] for so long. 8 degrees in the evening. Sat with Mama. Anya pasted postcards. Papa read in his [room].”
